My LEGO Gift to You

This post is for the oodles of moms out there dealing with LEGO crazed kids.

I am one of those moms, and when my little boy asked me to teach a LEGO class at our homeschool co-op, how could I refuse?

My son and I spent a lot of time brainstorming and planning this class TOGETHER, and I wanted to share my plans with you.   I am also THRILLED to be offering one of our favorite resources from the class to you in a giveaway!

A little about the class (then you can download the plans and enter the giveaway!)

Most kids just want to BUILD, so this class is designed to give them plenty of time to FREE BUILD creatively with the same set of bricks each week.

We had a "Speed Build" each week

We played games

We had "Theme Weeks" (like Minifig Week and Interlocking Brick Technique Week)

How lucky I am to have a little boy.  Without him I would never have entered this fun and creative LEGO world!

Lego Class Plans

Everything you just saw is available in this free download.   {You MUST get this if you have a LEGO lover in your house!}

My boys are going to be excited about this :)

How wonderful! Thank you for sharing this! We're a Lego-loving family here! I even asked for Legos for my birthday and Christmas this year. I was given a Furby for my birthday, and I was a bit disappointed, but I was happy to get something anyway of course! :) There's still Christmas! This can help me guide my son (5) with goals and such, rather than just coming up with things on his own - which is good, too. Sometimes though he gets stuck and doesn't know what to do. My daughter (10) prefers to make her sets up and leave them.

We just read a devotion about Jericho and I told my ds 7 that we should build Jericho out of LEgos. He will love this.

Thanks so much for creating this! I'd love to do this! However, I'm having a hard time saving the PDF. I have a mac - is there something I'm doing wrong? Or, should I just print it out rather than save it? Thanks so much!

The most interesting thing my son (11) has built is the desire to make biblical lego films, just like what we just saw in that Jericho trailer! He is working on one right now... It is amazing to watch him grow in SOO many skills while making these stop motion shorts!

Well, my boys (1 the big one aka hubby and the small one: son) both love Lego's. for Christmas 2 yrs ago I gave both of them Lego's set of their own and they shared them ever since. The most exciting creation is the car that they both built together with remote control .. it goes forward, backward and doing some rotation.. my son can go on and on explaining to me how those things works and I just nod :-) Thanks for this wonderful giveaway ... maybe these can be another Christmas gifts for the boys!

This is shocking but...we don't have any legos. I think it's about time that my kids start collecting them!

My son builds Star Wars ships. Not ones from the movie, but he creates his own.

Thanks so much for the great resource! I'll have to pin it as well. :)

It's hard to pin down any one thing my son has built but his movies are the most creative. He figured out on his own how to do stop motion and made some really creative short films.

My boys would love this. Thanks!

Got to love LEGO! I started out with a FIRST LEGO League team (ages 9-14) for my homeschool group....fast forward eight years and I now have a Jr. FIRST LEGO League team (ages 6-9) and robotics teams for high school aged kids as well. It's amazing what can be learned playing with LEGO and where it can lead.

I have three LEGO maniacs in my family....they have built some amazing things over the years. My favorite was a Gothic cathedral...all in beige, white, and gray bricks. Amazing! I am now nurturing a small group of LEGO guys in my co-op. They would love to win this!
