The Best Homeschool Field trip - Seeing Winter the Dolphin

Our family makes many trips to Florida. I am a native Floridian and still have family in the Sunshine State.

Each time we travel to Florida we plan an educational "side trip". This summer I wanted it to be something super special for Anna because we were traveling on her 13th birthday.

Our trip to see Winter the dolphin at The Clearwater Marine Aquarium will go down as the best field trip ever!

How You Know Homeschool is "Working"

Wouldn't it be great if there was a formula for homeschool success?

If I do x and y and z, then our homeschool will be a success!   {I could probably make quite a bit of money if I ever developed that formula, right?}

Obviously, however, it isn't that simple. Homeschooling is such a subjective undertaking, and for a chronic Type A personality like myself this has been a tough pill to swallow.

I cannot ask for more than my children to be active seekers of knowledge.  Self-education is the best form of education.

If you ever get a chance to see The Titanic exhibit, take advantage of the opportunity!

Our field trip was the perfect way for my daughter to wrap up a self-created unit study.

I took my daughter and a good friend of hers as a belated 11th birthday celebration.   Anna has had an obsession with all things Titanic for several months.  How perfect that her friend was also very interested in this very subject!
