Challenge A: Reflections and Tips

  

Now that our year in Challenge A is complete, I can reflect and write.

Readers have emailed lots of questions about Challenge A. I've had tons of thoughts swirling in my head about how I will do Challenge A differently when my son gets to that point. 

I want to share in the hope  it will help others - and to document the most exceptional year of our homeschool journey thus far.

Challenge A can be a shock to a child's (and a parent's) system. I cleared our schedule of anything that wasn't absolutely necessary so we could focus on having a productive school year. I knew going in that this year was going to require a lot of ME, the parent.

On The Way to Cycle 3: Classical Conversations July Blog Carnival

So often we hear that expression associated with Classical Conversations (mainly with your first year in CC): "It's like drinking from a fire hose!"

That's how I've felt the past couple of months, trying to get a grip on all of the WONDERFUL blogs out there that offer so much valuable information about Classical Conversations. 

I am doing my best to bring you what I've found on my own, what bloggers have submitted to me, and what others have brought to my attention. 

This month it seems to be all about PLANNING for Cycle 3. People are gathering resources, selecting math programs, deciding how much to supplement, etc...

Our History Notebook: Classical Conversations Cycle 3

The organization for Classical Conversations Cycle 3 continues!

Last week I shared our geography table and notebook with you. Today I'd like to share our history memory work notebook. 

I learned so much last year; the biggest lesson was to KEEP IT SIMPLE. The memory work is enough. Make sure the grammar pieces are being memorized and provide a few low stress ways for my child to expand upon the memory work if we have time.
