Music appreciation can be such FUN!
When I was an elementary school music teacher I always tried to pull out the most fun elements in music to attract my youngest listeners! Eventually, after being trained to listen to beautiful music, children are perfectly capable of appreciating and analyzing music for themselves.

It's time for another free SQUILT download.
The Romantic Era was full of beautiful, lush music. As we listened to Romantic Music in Classical Conversations last week, I told the children it's "kissy kissy" music. This era was all about the expression of intense emotions.
Many of the stories about the composers of this era are dramatic and exciting, too. Truth be told, this is probably my favorite time period of music.

Music appreciation is one of those areas that gets pushed to last place (or sometimes no place at all) in many homeschools.
Over the past year I have tried to help families incorporate BEAUTIFUL music into their days.
Super Quiet UnInterrupted Listening Time (SQUILT) is a music appreciation curriculum that is designed to make teaching music easy, fun, and meaningful.
Each SQUILT volume consists of 10 lessons. Each lesson highlights a piece of music and includes all information you will need to learn about that piece in depth. It includes notebooking pages, supplemental listening links, and fun activities. The best thing?
All you need to complete a SQUILT lesson is an internet connection and basic school supplies.
