Musical Onomatopoeia and Quotations: A Maestro Classics Giveaway

I love it when I can share things our family loves.

We definitely love Maestro Classics  (Remember the Water Xylophone we made after listening to The Sorcerer's Apprentice, or how about the unit we created from Casey At The Bat?)  I am confident that each and every time my children listen to one of the stories in music they are getting a quality listening experience.   They learn elements of music, facts about the composer, and so much more.

If I had to choose just ONE music resource for our homeschool, Maestro Classics would be it - hands down.

Fun and Easy Halloween Music Study (SQUILT Lesson 5)

Two years ago (wow, I've been blogging that long now!) I posted a study of In The Hall of the Mountain King, by Edvard Grieg.

This weekend I revisited the lesson to prepare for teaching it again to my children.   It never ceases to amaze me how much they love this piece of music and how we all hum it INCESSANTLY after just one listening.

So much is to be learned from this piece, too.

Why not use In The Hall of the Mountain King as your SQUILT this week?

Music In Your Homeschool With SQUILT ~ Lesson 1

I've written about SQUILT before.   Do you remember? Since that post during The Ten Days of Teaching Music series several moms have written to me telling me they are doing SQUILT in their homeschools!   Nothing could make me happier.

If some of you are using SQUILT in your homeschool (we use it once a week) and enjoying it, then I thought I should start posting some easy SQUILT lessons for you to use with your children.  I will be working through these same lessons with my own children.  As I choose SQUILT selections for them I will share them with you.
