Collage Friday - Math, Appliances, and Other Goodies

 

 

It's been an odd week. We're not QUITE done with our schoolwork (more on that later), and we have been jam packed with special activities.

Last weekend we went to see a local high school production of Hairspray. It was excellent! Our friend, Olivia, who we go to church with, has babysat the kids, and was also one of my piano students, had a part in the show. Anna and I had a fun night, and we're still singing Good Morning Baltimore a week later!

LEGO Candy Math

 

Oh my.  The LEGO learning possibilities are endless.

Enter LEGO candy bricks.  

They are the same size as LEGO bricks and they stack just like the bricks, too.    

These little candies are great for teaching about addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.

The possibilities are endless, really.

Math Fun with Pick-Up Sticks

 

My sweet little boy is turning 8 this week.  

His older sister wanted to choose a gift for him that was unique.  

I was thrilled when she chose a set of jacks, an old fashioned balloon art set, and Pick-Up Sticks!

It wasn't until we started playing that I realized the HUGE math benefits of playing Pick-Up Sticks.
