Blog Awards - Thank You!

Over the past week I've been touched that three people have left me blog awards. While I don't blog for awards, it's nice to know that someone is reading and maybe using some information on my blog. A while ago I tried to simplify my blog to show just the most simple information, which is what I am doing to educate my children; and while I appreciate awards, I feel very strange accepting and passing them along. I do, however, realize that the three people who gave me the awards took the time to bestow them upon me, and for that I am grateful.

The first award is the Cherry On Top Blog Award. It was given to me by Rebecca over at Mom's Mustard Seeds. Rebecca has a new look to her blog and wants to help homeschooling moms memorize and draw upon God's word in their lives. She has a weekly link-up to memorize scripture, so check it out.

The second award, the One Lovely Blog Award, was given to me by Renee at Little Homeschool on the Prairie and Pam at Wildflower Paths. They are both new blogs for me to be reading, so I look forward to following them on their journey.

I wanted to acknowledge the receipt of these awards and share some blogs that you might like to visit. (is this breaking the rules of the award? I don't know....) If you stop by that person's blog, please leave them a comment and encourage them in this funny thing called homeschooling.

Practical Pages
I love this site! There are lots of printables ( I like the mental math worksheets) and just great knowledge all-around!

Spunky Homeschool
This is quite a political homeschooling blog, but that's ok with me. If you disagree with her conservative politics, then go right past this link. You will LOVE her post about a government run Facebook!

The Homeschool Chick
Sue is very popular in the blogging world. I have enjoyed participating in her weekly blog hop and she has tons of great ideas. Check out her banana bread!

The Fantastic Five
Wonder Mom is a former public school educator just like me, and I have been enjoying her blog very much.

Learning, Laughter, Love
I stumbled upon Heather's blog last week, and it's very clever. I love her Post It Note Tuesday!

I hope I've given you five new blogs to check out, and remember - please leave them a comment when you stop by to take a look.

My First Blog Award!

Wow - I received my very first blog award today - The Sunshine Award. A special thanks goes out to Tristan, over at Our Busy Homeschool, who bestowed this blogging honor upon me. I need to share 7 random things about myself, and then pass the award on to 7 other bloggers.

So, here are the 7 random things:

  1. When I was in college I dreamed of being a puppeteer for Sesame Street. (I really did... I could do a lot of the voices and everything)
  2. I love grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
  3. My parents have been married for 52 years.
  4. I can't stand it when my kids have a loose tooth - the whole thing just creeps me out.
  5. I have recently become addicted to blogging. I love to write and read blogs - it gives me inspiration and a sense of community with other homeschoolers.
  6. My ideal vacation would involve my husband, a beach, a stack of good books, and lots of sleeping.
  7. I can play the organ - used to play for churches to pay the rent back when I was making $23,000/yr. as a first year teacher (either that was a long time ago, or teachers are paid really bad -- I think it's both!)
I'd like to pass The Sunshine award on to 7 other bloggers. They are:

  1. Amy at Little White Schoolhouse - I enjoy seeing all of her crafty projects. She inspires me to be more creative and artistic.
  2. Heather at Blog, She Wrote - Heather does Five In A Row with her children and has tons of wonderful ideas. I think she must know everything about workboxes, too. Hers was one of the first blogs I followed.
  3. Amy at The Mantooth Family Story - Homeschooling and Beyond - Amy writes a touching blog and always offers a spiritual gem when I read her posts.
  4. Jen at Home Is Where You Start From - Jen is homeschooling 5 kids in Southern California and I love the photos on her blog. She is the host of the L.E.N.S. photo challenge.
  5. Jamie at See Jamie Blog - Jamie also had one of the first blogs I ever followed and she was helpful to me in the beginning. I love reading about adoption and their family, and I really love her schoolroom.
  6. Melissa at A Stable Beginning - Melissa has five girls she homeschools and I just love the design of her blog. Looking at her blog inspires me. She has a great area for school, too - with so many books!
  7. Rebecca at Mom's Mustard Seeds - Rebecca has been a friend of mine for the past ten years. We began homeschooling at about the same time. I admire what she has accomplished in the past year and her faithful walk with God.

So, that's it. I hope you get a chance to visit these blogs and leave them a comment to let them know they are appreciated!
