Christian Fiction For Middle Grades
![Date Date](/universal/images/transparent.png)
Finding books for the middle grades child can be difficult.
My eleven year old is stuck between the children's section and the young adult section at our library. When she does choose books from the young adult section I always make sure to check with the librarians about the quality of the book.
One source of Christian Fiction that NEVER disappoints me (or HER!) are our selections from Tommy Nelson. I'm a Tommy Nelson mom, and am lucky enough to receive many great books for my children.
As summer is kicking in, I wanted to share my daughter's favorites, and also give you the chance to win her most recent favorite book.

My daughter has made her way through each of these books. When a new one arrives in the mail she takes it from me and reads it within a few days. To me, that is the sign of a good book.
I can also trust, that being published by Tommy Nelson, they are of high quality with Christian themes I can trust.
The latest book Anna has read is Rock Harbor Search and Resuce, by Colleen Coble and Robin Caroll.
This book is about an 8th grader who is obsessed with Search and Resuce. Emily finds herself in an unexpected situation with unexpected surprises, using her faith to get her through each one. The book is a mystery, and is targeted just for GIRLS.
You can watch the book trailer:
One lucky reader will have the chance to win a copy of Rock Harbor Search and Rescue.

My kids love science fiction books and books with animals as the main characters. I have them reading the Hobbit currently :)
It is hard finding good books for middle readers. My 11YO has recently read The Hobbit and is almost done with The Fellowship of the Ring.
Agreed - it is most difficult to find books at the middle grade level. My 9YO daughter is already bored with books geared for her age and unfortunately gets recommendations from her older sister (we tend to disagree with suitable book types!) They did enjoy the Mandy series but frankly we've run out of Christian options from the library. One of these days, if my creativity ever kicks in, I'd love to write for this age group.
We are so blessed to have a Christian lending library in our small town! It's a regular (non-profit, donation supported) library, just completely stocked with Christian literature and homeschool material. Unfortunately, my 9 year old is making her way through all the young readers and teen books pretty quickly! If you don't like mysteries, like her, you don't have quite as many options, but there are some good ones out there. Thanks for the suggestions! We will be looking those up. It sounds like the Sons of Angels series will be right up her alley!
I am an email subscriber. :) Thanks for the chance to win!
My kids love the Concord Cunningham: Scripture Sleuth Series. Quick Reads but fun for early middle years.
My dd is currently reading the Christy Miller series and Brio girls :)
She is finishing up The Invention of Hugo Chabret. Easy read but she thoroughly enjoyed the story and stunning pictures. She wants to read the Hunger Games but I feel she is still too young for distopia. We are going to look for your suggestions at our library. Thank you.
My 9 year old daughter has read all of the American Girl books, Little House on the Prairie and is starting the Anne of Green Gables series.
We have the same issue., my DD (10) just finished the Dragon Spell series by Donita K. Paul. I read them a few years ago & loved them & was excited to share them with her once she reached this level of reading. Very good & Intersting plot lines about a dragon keeper & the friends she makes along her journey (limitation to elves & dwarves, but with different names).
My 10 y.o. daughter has read most of the American Girl books a couple of years ago, all the Imagination STation books, RAchel Yonder books, The Viking Quest Series, The Boxcar children series, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, How to Train your Dragon, The Magic Tree House, Hank the Cowdog, Roal Doahl books and more. She is currently reading the 39 clues books. I am always looking for Christian books for her to read. I currently reading the Left Behind series for kids to see if they are appropriate for her. Another good series of Books are the Christian Heroes Now and then series that are about missionaries. My daughter really likes books about animals, mysteries and adventures.
We are subscribers to your blog and she would love to win the book. Thanks.
They are just getting ready to move into this age group's books so don"t have any favorites yet.
My sons loved J.L.Tolkien, C.S.Lewis, Rick Riordan, Christopher Paloini, and the Redwall series (can't recall author of this series). We would love to try these books.
Thanks :)

I've been looking for good options for my 10-year-old daughter. She enjoys a variety of books, from classic literature to manga. She has a Kindle, so we have been able to obtain a lot of classics, like "Beauty and the Beast", for free.
My son, 9, has a hard time finding books he enjoys. Recently he's been into the Fablehaven series and he just finished Gregor the Overlander.
I'm so pleased to learn about this source of quality books. My middle schooler enjoys the mysteries and suspense books like The Mysterious Benedict Society or Michael Vey.
I also subscribed to your blog!
My sons (twins, age 13) love science fiction most. Ken also loves history, especially anything related to WWII.
Thank you for sharing the helpful info about Thomas Nelson moms. I have written a book called, Secrets in the Land of Cheese, because I wanted to depicted a girl who trully grew in her personal walk with Jesus. There are many middle grade books which portray a moral main character but few discuss faith in Jesus. I'm on the search for more of these types of books for my children.
I was reading through a blog regarding tween and teen books for Christian readers, when I saw you posted a link to your site. I would like to make a recommendation for your middle-school age and teen groups. It’s called, The Fuller Creek Series. It’s meant for both boys and girls; although the adults who have read it, just love it. So far, there are three books out in print and two in EBook version, with the others coming out soon. It has a total of seven books in the series. This series is filled with action, adventure, mystery, clue-finding investigations, school life drama, and teen romance. All the storylines have a biblically based message or spiritual lesson to be learned. I know all about this series, because I’m the author!
Just a note about its content… My book editor recommend my series to his Pastor’s wife who homeschools several families in their church. She was so impressed with its biblically based messages, that she is now using it for “reading hour” as part of the homeschool curriculum.
If you wish to receive a free copy of Book #1 of the series for your review, simply send me an email at dcreyesauthor@hotmail.com along with a mailing address, and I will be more than happy to send you a copy. If you want to read it in EBook format, I don’t have a way to get you a free copy, but you can purchase it for only $2.99 at Amazon, B&N or any on-line outlets.
To find out a little more about me and my books, visit my website at www.dcreyesauthor.com, or find me on Amazon, as my website is not updated with some current titles.
Thank you, and I hope you will request a free copy.
