How to Start Homeschooling: A Roundup of Ideas

It's that time of year when many people contemplate homeschool.

Last week I shared some silly homeschool fears with you, so when I tell you I understand the emotions you are having as you contemplate homeschool, I REALLY DO.

Over the past four years I've learned a lot of the ins and out of homeschool.

I am eager to share what I know about how to start homeschooling.

Rather than reinvent the wheel, I will simply share with you some great resources I have found.    There is much good advice here.   The links below are few, but pack a punch!

It's About Relationship

I cannot stress enough the importance of being in relationship with other homeschooling moms/families.

Three big ways I have done this:

  • Join a local homeschool association/co-op
  • Find a homeschool friendly church
  • Get to know moms online - never underestimate the power of the internet!

I have been blessed to have a couple of mentors along this journey.  From sharing their philosophies with me, to willing me their homeschool books when their children graduate (yes, they really do graduate!), the knowledge I have gained from these women is HUGE.

 Just DO IT

When all else fails, and you just feel LED to homeschool, go ahead and DO IT!

Yes, my husband and I researched, but very little.  We just took the leap, and trusted God to take care of the rest.

He has, and in abundance.

It is my hope that every family could experience the joys of homeschooling.  If I can influence even just one or two families from my little corner of the internet than I've accomplished something!
