Free Tchaikovsky SQUILT lesson and Notebooking Download

This week we are listening to a wonderful little piece by Tchaikovsky.

It's a perfect piece for SQUILT - short, sweet, and memorable.

Super Quiet UnInterrupted Listening Time is a perfect way to incorporate music appreciation into your homeschool day. I've tried to make this lesson easy for ANYONE to teach. All you need is an internet connection and some basic school supplies.

Tchaikovsky wrote a series of 12 character pieces - one for each month of the year. November's piece is entitled "Troika", and it's a piece you'll be humming after you hear it a few times.

This piece was originally written for solo piano, but it has also been arranged for orchestra:

Download the entire SQUILT lesson and you will have your music appreciation for the week.

This 5 page download includes:

  • Instructions for how to teach the lesson
  • The SQUILT lesson - with internet links for listening. This also includes every single bit of information you will need to guide your child through the music. (It's EASY!)
  • Suggested enrichment activities
  • SQUILT Notebooking page
  • Tchaikovsky Notebooking page

Download the SQUILT Lesson

If you enjoy this lesson you can get more of them at the SQUILT website.

Volume 1: Baroque Era and Volume 2: Classical Era are currently on sale.

Are you incorporating music in your homeschool this year??

We are using the Volume 1: Baroque Era because we're studying SOTW3 as a spine during the Baroque time period. Pandora thru the blue-ray player somehow brings Baroque music into our living room while we work thru our daily homeschool schedule. And, conveniently, we can choose the classical music station in the van while our other favorite stations are raising money to pay the bills each year. I was able to explain why I guessed correctly a Bach piece the other day using the terms from the SQUILT lesson.
