Be a Valentine Bookworm - Free Download

I am blessed with children who love to read.

There are times, however, when I have had to provide a little "inspiration" for them to read.

These "I Love Being a Bookworm" printables are the perfect treat for Febraury to inspire reading.

Print them, attach them to a bag of gummy worms, and send your children to a quiet place for reading time.    {I always made this reading time a surprise.  My kids don't ever get gummy candy, so this was a real treat!}

I have to tell you about our favorite Valentine read aloud, The Ballad of Valentine.

This book can be sung to the tune of "Oh My Darling Clementine" - it's funny, light-hearted, and perfect for any elementary aged child.  When I pulled it out this year, both of my kids acted like they were seeing an old friend.  I love that!

Before I give you the printable, I wanted to share my Best Valentine Books Pinterest Board with you.   There are all kinds of Valentine books pinned to this board, many of them in our own library at home.  You can click over there for a full list.    Here are our all time favorites:

Saint Valentine - Beautiful illustrations bring the figure of Saint Valentine to life - a lovely book!

Saint Valentine - a wonderful chapter book about the real Saint Valentine

The Valentine Bears - a sweet picture book for younger children

Froggy's First Kiss - I love all of the Froggy books, and this one is great, too.   It's fun doing sound effects with this book!

On to my Valentine gift for you:

There is a printable for boys, and another for girls, both included in this download.

Download the I Love Being a Bookworm printable.

I hope you enjoy celebrating this season of love with your children!

This is such a cute idea. My kids LOVE to read! Instead of using it as inspiration, I think I might buy them a new book (or get one from paperback swap!) and attach it. Reading and gummy worms - what could be better?

Hi Mary,
I am new to your blog and learning my way around and am loving it so far. So many wonderful ideas. I have three little men who love Legos and your info has been great. I want to check out what you posted about music too. Thank you SO much for the great read alouds for Valentines Day! Have a great week!

Wow this is simply darling! My computer crashed and I need to set up the printer connections again. I'm going to print this off and find some gummy worms. My boys, who hardly ever get any kind of candy, will be in heaven! :)
