Sticky Note Stories and Things To Do in Heaven

I don't think you'll find any great homeschool ideas here today (well, maybe encourage your child to write some sticky note stories) but I do hope you'll be inspired to blog or record in some way the things your children do that amaze, inspire, and just make you love them even more than you thought possible.
Over the weekend GMan and I were banished upstairs to wait while his Miss B and dad concocted a "surprise" in the kitchen. He came to me and asked me if I had any notepads. All I could find upstairs was a lot of sticky notes. He took the sticky notes and a pencil and disappeared.
Just an hour later he had created all of these -- he has dubbed them:

This is just like GMan to decide on a project and then take it full tilt. He loves organizing, counting, and having collections. Some of the titles he had were, "The Lazy Pirate", "The Coke Zero" {hmmm... I gave up Coke Zero for Lent!}, "The Hypnotize Swirl", and "The Box".
He makes a little story/cartoon with each section of the pad. For example, this one, entitled "Your Royal Softness", depticts a king who just falls apart. Notice the last picture is someone saying "OH" as the king crumbles.
This one, which he dubbed "Pure Love" is pretty funny I think.
A man and a woman drive away in a car, go to dinner, and end the evening with a kiss. See the "Mwahhh" at the end -- that's the kiss. It just cracks me up.
I love it that my children can find something to do when they are "bored". I love it that they love to draw and write.
I think this was a great thing to do while your sister surprised you by baking chocolate chip cookies, don't you?
These sticky notes also reminded me of a little something Gman wrote while in church a few weeks ago...
Read that list carefully. Keep in mind we had been talking a lot about heaven lately because of the passing of six year old friend of G's. I think in some way my son was thinking about heaven and realizing that it's going to be a place where ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
To him it is a place where he will get do to all those great things he wants and/or loves to do here on earth.
How innocent and wonderful a child's heart is -- "Pick Weeds", "Sing in the Rain", and "Eat at a cafe" are among my favorites.
I want to remember this FOREVER.

Mary, That list is beyond words. Immediately I thought of turning it into art. To me it is an art journal entry just waiting to happen. I would even get him a canvas and hang it rather than keep it in a journal. You are right that is a moment you never ever want to forget!

What great things to share. Made my morning! A few days ago my 6 yo son with sensory issues and Aspergers braved trying the shower. My goal was just to have him in the tub at the same time water was coming out of the shower head. He completely surprised me and backed into the water and loved it. He stayed in for about 15 min, and 20 min the next day. The second day he got his entire head wet. Sounds like a little thing, but for someone like him who doesn't like to have his head touched most of the time, this was huge.
That's a note to go in your memory/treasure box for a long time.
Love that the last thing on his Heaven list was "go to the bathroom". HA!!!! What a very sweet list, and love the sticky stories, too! Definitely something to hold on to! :)
For those of us whose little ones are no longer little, your post is a sweet reminder of those exhausting but wonderful times when the kids were young. Thanks!

I completely understand the declining interest in the "social" aspect...you may or may not have noticed that I don't spend much time on Facebook, and almost none at all on Twitter, unless I'm in the mood!
Thanks, Jess - I have a shadow box I will put it in and scrapbook pictures around it, too - I thought about having G add his own artwork, too.
I guess he thinks you'll have to attend to your basic bodily needs in heaven, too!
I love this. I love Race a Cheetah and No Spelling (I think that's what it says). My son would definitely agree with him on both!
The sticky note stories make me smile! If you can believe it, my boys spent a lot of time creating stories this week, too. My oldest made Flip Note stories from Post It Pads (think comic book animation), while the younger one made picture books from scraps of paper he stapled together!
No spelling! Ha ha! I love the list. Heaven will be full of delight, and the primary delight is Jesus himself. :-)
Post it notes are great for flip books too!
