Starting Your Day On The Right Foot - Jesus Calling Giveaway

As a Tommy Nelson Mommy I have the joy of sharing Biblical resources with you each month. It seems that each time I write about them, the post is about how God's word has hit me over the head! The more we are immersing ourselves in God's word, the more we see evidence in each and every moment of our lives of how God works in spectacular ways.
We sit each morning while eating breakfast and have devotions. Right now I read Grace For The Moment for my 7 year old, and Jesus Calling with my 11 year old. Starting our day with God's word is essential.
This month, in sharing devotions with my 11 year old daughter, a particular passage jumped out at us. In Jesus Calling (teen edition), the passage for October 24 was:
This electronic age keeps My children "wired" much of the time, too tense to find Me in the midst of their moments. I built into your very being the need for rest. How twisted the world has become when people feel guilty about meeting this basic need! How much time and energy they waste by being always on the go rather than taking time to seek My direction for their lives.
The devotion was followed by a reading of the 23rd Psalm.
How many parents struggle with their pre-teens/teens being "wired" too much of the time? I know I STRUGGLE with this same issue. In reading through Jesus Calling with my daughter I'm finding the topics are so appropriate and speak directly to her (and me!). The devotions are short, with a couple of Bible readings to reinforce the topic that day.
I love how God works, too. That same day I was reading the Facebook status of a friend who was waiting for her husband at the hospital. He is undergoing tests for the return of malignant melanoma. She had quoted Jesus Calling on her page. God meets us where we are -- whether we are dealing with a serious illness, or a child that is too "wired". He CARES about our needs, no matter how great or small they are.

This edition of Jesus Calling is perfect for your pre-teen/teen, and young adults. (I'm not a young adult and I enjoy it, too!).

Our time begins each morning with our devotions, it is our road map for the day! It helps us to know where we are going and gives us food to get there.
My whole family thrives when we do devotionals. You can also always tell when I have slacked off and we haven't done them! I love your idea of reading them during breakfast, may have to switch to then myself. Thanks for sharing this with us!
I love a daily devotional to keep my day focuses on what is really important.
I need daily time with the Lord because I need more of Him and less of me, my heart is deceitful and desperately wicked without JESUS cleaning me out :-)
Thankfully we are cleaned and redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!
Daily devotions are very helpful for me and my family. We use them to guide us as we are learning to follow God as a family. This one is one I am wanting to get it comes Highly recommended from many in my Bible study group.
Hi Mary! I find that it makes a difference for me if I sit down and have my own personal quiet time with Jesus. I pray, read my Bible and ask for Him to help me focus on Him and to be the kind of wife/mom/teacher that brings glory to Him. Then I do devotions with my girls at the breakfast table before we start our homeschool day. Right now we are doing the Veggie Tales 365 Daily Devos for girls. I have heard great things about Jesus Calling and would love to try it out. I just became a Tommy Nelson Mommy, but not in time to try this one out :( I am always looking for new homeschool resources. Thanks for sharing!
I am a Sunday School teacher of girls this age and would love to get my hands on this, read it, and see if I can recommend it to them or give one to each of them for Christmas. Thanks for the giveaway.
I don't currently have a daily devotional; instead, I try to listen to where God would have me read from His Word. However, I would love to have this one as a resource! :-)
This looks like a wonderful devotional for my teenage daughter. The kids and I currently read another one, but sometimes I think something a little more adult would be good for her. Devotionals are a great way to start our day focusing on our Heavenly Father.
I try to spend time with God everyday and never really know where to start. Devotionals are a wonderful way of walking you through the Bible.
I've just remade the commitment to get up in the morning and have my devotional time. Doing Sally Clarkson's The Ministry of Motherhood. This would be great to add:)
a devotional has helped me to stay on course. i know that in this season of life with my little ones.. i need something to keep me on track and i have foudn devos to do this!
I received my "Utmost from His Highest" devotional when I graduated form high school many years ago. It has been a continual source of conviction, wisdom & perspective for me.
Daily devotions brings your heart to God. It fills you with encouragement and strength from Him for the day. Looking for a good one for my kids right now, so this is a timely giveaway.

We do a devotional every morning. I find that it not only gives me a better perspective on the day, but I love the conversation that follows with my children. They also learn how to better allow Christ to shine through them.
I feel this book has devotionals that would be relevant to teens and adults. We have many devotional books and gleam something from all of them.
