Some BIG Questions

Now that our first "official" day of schooling is drawing near (next Monday) I am having a lot of questions. There are a lot; and since they are for the most part unanswered they are driving me NUTS! Thought I'd share my list (maybe some of you other HS moms have these same questions).

1. How and I going to fit everything in?
2. Will I have enough time to get housework/cooking/cleaning done?
3. Will I start to resent homeschooling when I listen to my friends talk about the things they do while their children are in "school"?
4. Will I be able to juggle homeschooling and teaching piano lessons?
5. When will I find the time to plan?
6. When will there be time for ME? (should I be this selfish?)
7. How am I going to find time to plan for and teach a co-op class?
8. What happens when I am sick?
9. Will my children be able to keep their friends and make new ones this year?
   
10. What will be like homeschooling TWO children instead of just one?
11. Will everyone think math is FUN?

I could go on and on, but I'm getting more nervous as I type. ;-)

So, all of these questions have been creeping into my mind the past couple of weeks, and then this morning at breakfast the kids and I did a devotion. It was about a flamingo standing on one leg and how a little boy wondered how one skinny leg could hold up a big bird (get where I'm going with this?)...such a "little" thing like prayer can do great things, just like the flamingo's little leg can hold him up.

That hit me like a ton of bricks -- why am I worrying about all of these unanswered questions?? Why am I not turning this over to God in prayer?

Wow. I think I need to spend some more time in prayer, and remember God has given me these precious children to care for, and He has obviously put homeschooling on my heart. He will take care of the questions and the doubts -- that is ONE thing I know for sure.

We all have those moments where we wonder how we'll get it all done. The short answer is that you won't. The long answer is "You won't, but that's okay.".

Honestly, pray and go, it will all work out. We've been doing this for several years now and every year I have either been pregnant, given birth, or both during the school year. (Yep, baby #6 is due this Thanksgiving). It is completely doable if you hold yourself to God's standards and plans for what you rfamily should learn and do. If you set your own standards and don't make sure they line up with His you will be in for a rough road. ((HUGS))

God has placed homeschooling on your heart for a reason, and that which he calls you for, he will equip you for. Don't let worry and fear steal your happiness and joy. Pray about all of your concerns and you will figure it all out as you go and what works out best for your family.
