Our Scripture Memory System is in Place!
If you read the directions it does seem daunting at first, but the leader of our homeschool co-op told us she just sat down and did it and it just made sense. I agree. I had an small file box, which I filled with index cards and tabbed dividers:
Then I began writing verses on index cards (you need 41 verses total) and filing them appropriately.
Each morning when I open the box we will have a daily scripture, another verse depending on if it is an even or odd day, another verse for the specific day of the week, and another verse for the day of the month. That's FOUR verses each day, which keep getting reviewed throughout the year. It really is an easy system.
The Charlotte Mason site has a list of suggested verses, and I used some of those, and also several from an excellent book I just read, Good and Angry. I'm so excited to use this system and begin hiding more of God's word in my children's hearts, as well as mine!

That sounds like a great system. We may have to try something like that here. I'm always looking for more ways to incorporate the Word into our days, and 41 verses memorized in a year (in addition to AWANA work) is nothing to sneeze at!
Thank you for sharing. It looks like I need to do more research on Charlotte Mason's methods!

We've been using the CM memorization system for poetry this year, and it works so well!
Visiting & now follwoing from Mustard Seeds....and have to agree that this looks like a wonderful system!
Mary, this is wonderful...something very similar to what we have. I don't use the tabs...what are those for? I can't quite read them? This really does help...and leaving it on the table makes you remember when you sit down.....without having to find it! So thankful your family is digging into the word! Your children are so blessed...these words are being placed in their hearts and will always come to them when they need them the most!
I just linked over to the CM site and understand the dividers now...great way to memorize and something else I learned about at the Homeschool Expo we went to in Aug....one of the speakers talked about implementing scripture into your daily routine...it was very similar to the dividers. That man was amazing..he has memorized entire books of the Bible. And I struggle with verses!
What a great system! I'm always looking for ways to plant God's word in mine and my children's heart:) Thank you for sharing.
